It’s not often that you get an invite to see a venue before it’s open – especially one which says you might need to wear a hard hat! So I was intrigued to go visit Maybury a few weeks ago. Situated right next door to the Marina Metro Station and within walking distance of Marina Walk Maybury looks like it’s going to be an exciting new addition to the area.
The Maybury concept is to provide a neighborhood store stocked with fresh produce served by staff with great product knowledge and a passion for food. The grocery part of the store will provide everyday necessities, fresh produce and delicatessen staples including poultry, seafood, beef, cheeses and freshly-baked breads, as well as homemade meals and alternative products at competitive prices from 6am- 11pm everyday.
Upstairs and on the outdoor terrace, there will be a cafe and an interactive cooking studio in-store. The café will offer fresh homemade soups, salads and sandwiches created in store. The Cooking Studio is where Maybury will share knowledge of food products and cooking techniques. Hints, tips, tastings and help with menu planning with to customers. The first Maybury store is located at Dubai Marina metro station and is due to open in December, with Maybury stores in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah to launch in early 2013.
The whole experience of seeing Maybury before opening was really interesting, Head Chef Allen Smith shared with us the vision of the store and his passion for food and produce was evident as he managed to bring to life the Maybury vision albeit whilst we were stood inside a building site. I’m really looking forward to the opening on the store, as it seems like a great local place to hang out, eat and shop – and if Allen gets a good coffee supplier in, well then – that will just be perfect 🙂
Please note I’ve had to use stock photos as my iPhone crashed after my visit and I lost all of my notes and photos of the tour. Maybe it’s time to investigate the new HTC 1X or Samsung Galaxy S3 for my roving foodie pics ……
