Initially starting out as a franchise from the UK with a converted Italian Piaggio decked out in gold and black and a few trikes from which Gold Box would attend various events and brew from I’ve watched this Roastery grow from a small set up with home made tables through to a funky converted warehouse with a full roastery and cafe. Roasting happens twice a week and if you get there on roasting day you are in for a treat as you can view the process and see what it takes to make great speciality coffee. The warehouse is funky and fabulous. Chat at the brewing bar, or take a seat and let the team serve you, there’s always time for a bit of coffee chat if that’s your thing.
If they roast it they sell it ! The beans are sourced from Brazi, Colombia, Mexico, El Salvador, Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda & Indonesia. Some of the beans are scored above 85 in the Cup of Excellence and are 100% arabica. Some are organic and fair trade. The team make sure they visit the countries from which the beans are sourced and plan at last two trips a year.
Their Nitro Cold Brew is definitely worth trying (personally I love it and it sells extremely well at events).
They’ve made incredible progress in a short amount of time and you can find their coffee ‘out and about’ not only at events which they regularly attend in the winter months (they will do private events too), but also at a variety of speciality coffee shops and cafes/restaurants who brew speciality coffee (see below)
